The state Fire Marshal’s Office is searching for a Skowhegan man they say set fire to his own apartment last week.

Peter E. Gray, 63, was taken to a Skowhegan hospital after being injured in the fire at 6 a.m. Thursday, which destroyed his apartment at 378 Water St. He was later discharged.

There were 10 other apartments in the building, though the fire was confined to Gray’s. Everyone got out safely.

Now fire marshals say they have a warrant for Gray charging him with arson.

Gray may be staying with friends or at a homeless shelter elsewhere in the state, they said. He is 5 feet 6 inches tall, weighs about 145 pounds and has gray hair.

Authorities ask that anyone with information call 624-7076.
