The America East Conference is expected to announce the women’s basketball tournament will be played in Maine in 2017 and 2018.

The conference has scheduled a news conference for Dec. 10 at the Cross Insurance Arena in Portland.

A press release from the America East Conference is expected to be distributed later this week.

MEN’S BASKETBALL

BOWDOIN 81, SOUTHERN MAINE 55: Lucas Hausman scored 20 points and Matt Palecki added 13 points and eight rebounds to lead the Polar Bears (3-2) past the Huskies (4-3) at Gorham.

Hausman and Palecki each scored nine points in the first half as the Polar Bears raced to a 46-24 halftime lead.

Bowdoin also got 10 points and eight assists from Jake Donnelly; Neil Fuller pulled down 10 rebounds.

Atencio Martin had 16 points and eight rebounds for the Huskies.

EMMANUEL 58, ST. JOSEPH’S 37: John Clay scored 18 points and Kyle Davis added 14 points and 11 rebounds to lead the Saints (1-3, 1-0) as they opened the second half with a 16-3 run to pull away from the Monks (3-3, 0-1) in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference game at Standish.

Darian Berry scored seven points off the bench to pace the Monks, who trailed 28-23 at halftime.

(4) KANSAS 94, LOYOLA 61: Wayne Selden Jr. scored 18 points, Perry Ellis added 15 and the Jayhawks (5-1) used a big second-half run to win at home in Cheick Diallo’s much-anticipated debut.

Diallo, a five-star prospect from Mali, was the subject of an exhaustive investigation by the NCAA into his eligibility. He finally was approved to begin playing this week and had three highlight-worthy dunks, finishing with 13 points, six rebounds and three blocks in 16 minutes.

(5) IOWA STATE 84, NORTH DAKOTA STATE 64: Abdel Nader scored 21 points, Jameel McKay had 15 to go with a career-high 19 rebounds as the Cyclones (6-0) topped the Bison (4-2) at Ames, Iowa.

Monte Morris had 18 points for the Cyclones, who overcame a sluggish outing to post their fifth straight win by double digits.

(8) VILLANOVA 86, ST. JOSEPH’S 72: Kris Jenkins and Josh Hart each scored 18 points and the Wildcats (7-0) made 11 3-pointers to beat the Hawks (4-2) at Philadelphia.

Ryan Arcidiacono added 17 points for Villanova. The Wildcats have won four in a row against the Hawks in the Philadelphia Big Five series.

(9) NORTH CAROLINA 89, (2) MARYLAND 81: Marcus Paige scored 20 points in his season debut following a hand injury to help the Tar Heels (6-1) top the visiting Terrapins (6-1).

(10) VIRGINIA 64, OHIO STATE 58: Malcolm Brodgon scored 22 points for his third straight game with at least 20 points to lead The Cavaliers (6-1) over the Buckeyes (2-4) at Columbus, Ohio.

The Cavaliers won their fifth straight, but it was the first time in the streak they did not score at least 80.

(11) PURDUE 72, PITTSBURGH 59: A.J. Hammons scored a season-high 24 points off the bench and Ryan Cline made four 3-pointers in the second half to lead the Boilermakers (7-0) over the host Panthers (4-1).

(21) MIAMI 77, NEBRASKA 72: Davon Reed’s 3-pointer gave the Hurricanes (6-1) the lead in overtime and they made three free throws in the last 15 seconds to beat the host Cornhuskers (5-3).
