An Eliot woman was transported Sunday to a New Hampshire hospital after her car left the road and struck a stone culvert on Hubbard Road in Berwick, police said.

Sgt. Jeff Pilkington identified the woman as Deborah Keaton, 22. Keaton was driving along the road when her Subaru Legacy left the highway and went into a ditch. Keaton was taken to Wentworth-Douglass Hospital in Dover, New Hampshire, with what are believed to be non-life threatening injuries.

Pilkington said there were two dogs in the vehicle when it crashed, but they appear to have not suffered any serious injuries.

The cause of the accident, which was reported around 3:35 p.m., remains under investigation. Pilkington said the speed limit along that stretch of Hubbard Road is 25 mph.
