The founder of a company that owns and manages several high-end resorts in York County is stepping down to pursue marketing and branding consultancy.

Debbie Lennon, co-managing partner of the Kennebunkport Resort Collection with Tim Harrington, is retiring and divesting her ownership interest in the properties. She will continue to advise the 5-year-old company on sales and marketing as a consultant, according to a release from KRC.

The Kennebunkport resort properties in the KRC portfolio are Hidden Pond; the Tides Beach Club; the Kennebunkport Inn; The Cottages at Cabot Cove and its sister property, the Lodge on the Cove; the Boathouse Waterfront Hotel; the Grand Hotel in Kennebunk; and the Cape Arundel Inn & Resort in nearby Cape Arundel.

“I have enjoyed being part of this terrific organization over these last five years and the success has been gratifying,” said Lennon in the release. “I plan to form a new company focused on what I enjoy best, marketing and branding. This new change allows me to explore new business opportunities while working with a strong, talented team and business that I helped found.”

The KRC will be Lennon’s first client in her new venture.

As part of the transition, Bill Bamford, the chief financial officer for the company, will become the CFO/COO and assume the duties that Lennon had previously performed. He joined KRC in February 2013 as CFO after spending 25 years in senior management in multiple industries.
