Ninety percent of Americans support gun safety and strict background checks. But only about 50 percent of Americans vote in any given election.
So our elected representatives, when making laws, are not thinking about what all Americans want; they are thinking about what voting Americans want. And National Rifle Association supporters vote.
Can’t we do something about this, by all voting all the time – regardless of what is on the ballot? Talk about easy – voting takes a couple of hours or so once a year.
I bet we spend a lot more time than that venting about what we think is wrong with our laws and our government on email and Facebook (and in letters to the editor).
