SPRINGFIELD, Mass. — Mike Boornazian and Shawn Strickland scored 17 points each as the Bates men’s basketball team beat Husson 93-74 in the championship game of the Naismith Classic on Sunday.

Josh Britten added 12 points for Bates (7-5), while Malcolm Delpeche had nine points and 17 rebounds.

Raheem Anderson scored 21 points, Trevor Butler 20 and Zach Curran 14 for Husson (6-3).

WOMEN’S HOCKEY

COLBY 2, MANHATTANVILLE 0: Katie McLaughlin and Kailey Buxbaum each scored to lead the Mules (3-5-2, 1-5-1) past the Valiants (3-6-0, 3-4-0) in the consolation round at the Castleton State Tournament in Rutland, Vermont. Angelica Crites saved 21 shots for Colby.

AMHERST 4, SOUTHERN MAINE 1: Erin Martin and Eileen Harris each scored two goals as the Purple and White (8-0) beat the Huskies (2-7-1) in Amherst, Massachusetts.

Courtney Davis stopped 31 shots for USM.

BOWDOIN 3, UNIVERSITY OF NEW ENGLAND 0: Brooke Solomon scored two goals to lead the Polar Bears (3-4) past the Nor’easters (5-5-1) in Biddeford.

Madeline Hall also scored, and Lan Crofton stopped 23 shots for Bowdoin. Sydney Helmbrecht had 30 saves for UNE.
