Police divers continued to search Portland Harbor on Tuesday for a Saco man missing since New Year’s Day.

James Dyer, 23, was last seen in front of The Pearl nightclub on Fore Street in Portland about 1:45 a.m. Friday, when he and his friends got separated.

There is nothing to suggest Dyer went into Portland Harbor, other than the car he was planning to get a ride home in was parked on Union Wharf.

Acting Deputy Chief Corey Huntress of the Saco Police Department said police are concentrating on the water because there have been cases where people missing from the Old Port were ultimately found there.

“Right now it’s the absence of anything else leading us in a different direction,” he said.

Police have reviewed security video taken from local businesses in an effort to identify where Dyer went. They did spot Dyer, but it was on the sidewalk outside The Pearl and it did not give them any fresh leads. However, seeing him there did help corroborate his friends’ account of becoming separated from him there.

“We are still looking for any information, be it video or anyone who saw him,” Huntress said.

Anyone with information is urged to call 284-4535.
