A Windham couple was injured Thursday after they were hit crossing the road in front of Dolby Funeral Chapel at 434 River Road.

David Rhodes, 74, is in critical condition at Maine Medical Center and Laura Rhodes 73 is in fair condition there.

Todd Bidwell, 33, of Windham was driving a white 2006 Jeep Liberty at 5:30 p.m. when the car hit the couple as they were crossing the road, police said. Bidwell was not charged though the crash remains under investigation.

There were no indications that speed or alcohol contributed to the crash, police said.
