BATH — The Mt. Ararat Middle School eighth-grade girls basketball team jumped out to an early lead and didn’t look back en route to a 47-29 victory over Tripp Academy recently.

A 13-2 first quarter lead turned into a 21-12 advantage at the break. The Eagles surged for 23 points in the third quarter, pushing the lead to 44-20 heading into the final frame.

Theresa Breed paced Mt. Ararat (3-3) with 14 points, while Reese Turcotte chipped in with nine and Kyla Greenleaf added seven. Eleven different Eagles scored.

In an earlier game, Mt. Ararat posted another victory, 60-39, over Bath. The Eagles used a pressure defense and quick offense to earn 20-5, 32-17, and 48-21 quarter breaks.

Hannah Giggey led all scorers with 18 points for the road side, with Greenleaf adding eight points and 13 assists.

Bath was led by Paige Faulkingham with 13 points and Dory Kulis had 11.
