ORONO — Thomas Aldworth scored a power-play goal with 47 seconds left as Quinnipiac took advantage of a five-on-three advantage to rally for a 3-3 tie against the University of Maine on Tuesday night at Alfond Arena.

The Bobcats (19-1-4), who are the top-ranked team in the country, opened the scoring 6:09 into the game on a goal by Tanner MacMaster.

Maine tied the game with 9:34 left in the opening period on a goal by Steven Swavely and took a 2-1 lead 1:18 later on a goal by Nolan Vesey.

The Black Bears (5-13-6) extended their lead to 3-1 when Brendan Robbins scored 34 seconds into the second period.

Sam Aanas scored 13:59 into the third period for the Bobcats and also assisted on Aldworth’s tying goal.

Dane Gibson collected a pair of assists for the Black Bears and Robbins also had one assist.

Maine goalie Rob McGovern finished with 30 saves.

The Black Bears, who have one win in the last nine games, play at home against Boston University at 7:30 p.m. Friday.

MEN’S BASKETBALL

ENDICOTT 88, UNIVERSITY OF NEW ENGLAND 62: Max Motroni scored 23 points as the Gulls (10-6, 7-2 Commonwealth Coast) handled the Nor’easters (9-7, 4-5) at Beverly, Massachusetts.

The Nor’easters opened the second half with a 3-pointer and a layup to pull within five, 40-35, and Endicott responded with 14 consecutive points, including three 3-pointers.

Matt Lettick had 12 points and Gavin Dibble added 10 for UNE.

COLBY 80, MAINE MARITIME 65: Ryan Jann scored 23 points and pulled down seven rebounds to lead the Mules (11-4), who opened the game with a 12-2 run and never trailed in beating the Mariners (3-11) at Castine.

Luke Westman and Joseph Connelly added 13 points apiece and Sam Willson chipped in 10 points for the Mules, who led 40-29 at halftime.

Maine Maritime was paced by Dylan Stevens with 15 points.

WOMEN’S BASKETBALL

UNIVERSITY OF NEW ENGLAND 65, ENDICOTT 57: Olivia Shaw finished with 18 points and eight rebounds and Alicia Brown added 16 points to lead the Nor’easters (12-3, 9-0) to a Commonwealth Coast win over the Gulls (9-7, 7-2) at Beverly, Massachusetts.

The Nor’easters took the lead for good with a 12-4 run to close out the second quarter, giving them a 28-23 halftime lead.

Shaw scored eight points during the run.

WOMEN’S HOCKEY

BOWDOIN 2, ENDICOTT 2: Maddy Hall and Marissa Fichter each scored a goal for the Polar Bears (6-6-1) in a tie against the Gulls (8-5-3) at Beverly, Massachusetts.

Endicott took a 1-0 lead 9:42 into the game, but the Polar Bears responded with two goals during a 26-second stretch less than two minutes later to take a 2-1 lead.

Maggie Layo scored the tying goal for the Gulls 1:22 into the second period.

Sophia Lattanzio made 28 saves for the Polar Bears.
