University of Maine football coach Joe Harasymiak announced the addition of two transfers from Football Bowl Subdivision schools – defensive back DeAndre Scott from Arizona State and running back Zaire Williams from Temple.

Scott spent the past two seasons at Arizona State, where he was primarily used on special teams. .

Williams spent two years at Temple, appearing in 12 games at running back. During his freshman year, Williams rushed 101 times for 533 yards and three touchdowns, averaging 5.3 yards per carry. .

Both will enroll at UMaine immediately and be able to participate in the spring practices. Scott and Williams will both be juniors for the Black Bears.

MEN’S BASKETBALL

(1) OKLAHOMA 91, TEXAS TECH 67: Buddy Hield scored 30 points to help the Sooners (17-2, 6-2 Big 12) top the visiting Red Raiders (12-7, 2-6).

Hield, the nation’s No. 2 scorer, made 9 of 12 shots, including 5 of 8 3-point attempts, and 7 of 8 free throws. It was his seventh game with 30 or more points this season.

(7) XAVIER 75, (10) PROVIDENCE 68: Jalen Reynolds had 15 points and 11 rebounds, and the Musketeers (18-2, 6-2 Big East) held off a late rally by the Friars (17-4, 5-3) for their first road win over a Top Ten team in 20 years.

(9) WEST VIRGINIA 70, KANSAS STATE 55: Jonathan Holton had 14 points and 11 rebounds to lead the Mountaineers (17-3, 6-2 Big 12) over the visiting Wildcats (12-8, 2-6).

(11) VIRGINIA 72, WAKE FOREST 71: Darius Thompson hit a 3-pointer at the buzzer to give the Cavaliers (16-4, 5-3 Atlantic Coast Conference) a win over the Demon Deacons (10-10, 1-1) at Winston-Salem, North Carolina.

WISCONSIN 82, (19) INDIANA 79: Nigel Hayes scored 31 points, Ethan Happ added 25 and the host Badgers (12-9, 4-4 Big Ten) beat the Hoosiers (17-4, 7-1) in OT, snapping Indiana’s 12-game winning streak.

HUSSON 92, COLBY 89: Trevon Butler went 9 of 14 from behind the 3-point line and finished with a game-high 33 points to lift the Eagles (12-4) to an overtime win over the Mules (12-6) at Bangor.

Butler scored 10 of his points in overtime, including hitting a 3-pointer that gave the Eagles an 89-85 lead with 1:48 remaining.

Patrick Stewart scored 21 points and Sam Willson added 18 to lead four players in double figures for the Mules, who trailed 41-30 at halftime.

Colby forced overtime with an 8-0 run at the end of the second half that was capped by Stewart’s 3-pointer with 21 seconds remaining.

WOMEN’S BASKETBALL

COLBY 66, UM-FARMINGTON 59: Carylanne Wolfington scored 17 points to pace the Mules (11-7) as they used a 9-2 fourth-quarter run to pull away from the Beavers (9-7) at Waterville.

Desie Smith and Kaitlyn McCrum added 10 points apiece for Colby, which saw its 14-point fourth-quarter lead trimmed to 54-52 with 8:02 remaining.

The Beavers were led by Meghan Smith with 17 points and 14 rebounds.

BOWDOIN 94, HUSSON 49: Shannon Brady scored 16 points and had eight rebounds, and Lauren Petit added 15 points to lead the Polar Bears (14-5) over the Eagles (13-5) at Brunswick.

Bowdoin, which recorded its season high for points, also got 13 points from Ally Silfen.

The Polar Bears, who never trailed, led 48-25 halftime.

Kenzie Worcester led the Eagles with 16 points.

BOWDOIN 4, SOUTHERN MAINE 1: The Polar Bears scored three consecutive goals in the first period to jump to an early lead and defeat the Huskies in a nonconference game at Brunswick.

Mitch Barrington got the scoring started for Bowdoin (8-7-3) on the power play with assists from Matthew Lison and Chris Wallace at 3:37, before Matt Rubinoff and Lison each scored in the span of 16 seconds to make it 3-0.

Patrick Magliano scored for Southern Maine (5-13-1) on a feed from Jimmy Currier at 11:29 of the period.

Lison scored an empty-net goal in the final minute of the third period.

Kyle Shapiro stopped 27 shots for the Huskies, and Peter Cronin had 33 saves for Bowdoin.

COLBY 7, UNIVERSITY OF NEW ENGLAND 4: The Mules (6-8-4) scored three unanswered goals in the first five minutes of the third period to break open the game and down the Nor’easters (11-6-2) in a nonconference game at Waterville.

The teams entered the third period tied at 3-3 before Colby’s Cam MacDonald scored on a feed from Devin Albert 15 seconds into the period.

Mario Benicky followed 1:13 later with assists from Zack Hale and Thomas Stahlhuth.

The Mules got goals from seven players; Tucker Ross scored twice for UNE.

Emerson Verrier had 19 saves for Colby, Mason Riley stopped 26 shots for the Nor’easters
