GORHAM — The Thornton Academy indoor track and field team had a strong showing on Saturday at the SMAA Last Chance Meet held at University of Southern Maine.

Sam Curran led the TA girls with a victory in the shot put and Alex Arnold led the boys with a win in the triple jump.

Curran won the event with a throw of 39-08 3/4 and Arnold beat the rest of the triple jump field with a hop, skip and jump of 40-02 1/2.

The TA girls got second-place finishes from Annie Duong in the two-mile run, Maria Seneres in the pole vault and Isabella Capozzi in the shot put.

Noah Goren picked up a second-place finish for the TA boys in the 400 meters and Sanford’s Pete Hegarty was the runner-up in the pole vault.

Local girls picking up third-place finishes were TA’s Katie LeBlanc (two mile), Olivia Libby (55 hurdles) and Noelle Boudreau (triple jump).

For the boys, TA’s Eli Arsenault (400) and Sanford’s Tyler Schontag (pole vault) picked up third-place finishes.
