On Thursday, Feb. 11 at 1 p.m., a historic film program will take place at Windham Public Library. “Blizzard to Blossoms,” filmed and narrated by Henry W. Briggs, was shot in the Skowhegan area during the winters of 1948 and 49. The hour-long movie is mostly color with some black and white shots. The motion picture from the Allagash Tails Collection depicts life in central Maine from a blizzard at the start of winter through to spring apple blossoms.

The movie is an excellent example of life in central Maine after World War II. “Blizzards to Blossoms” DVD and Allagash Tails books will be available for purchase and signing. This special event, which will occur at the Windham Public library, is a collaboration between the Raymond Village Library, the Windham Public Library and Windham/Raymond Adult Education. Call to reserve your space, or for more information: Raymond Village Library (655-4283), Windham Public Library (892-1908), or Windham/Raymond Adult Education (892-1819).
