PARIS — A Maine woman has been charged with manslaughter in connection with a crash that killed her passenger in Paris last month.

The Sun Journal reports that Asha Doiron, 32, was charged Friday after turning herself in at the Oxford County Jail.

Police say Kevin Wassell, 41, was killed when Doiron failed to negotiate a turn along Paris Hill Road around 3 p.m. on Jan. 31. The car went out of control, crossed the centerline and rolled onto its roof into a group of trees.

Doiron and her backseat passenger were injured. Wassell was sitting in the front passenger seat. Police say no one was wearing a seat belt.

Doiron was in jail Monday and couldn’t be reached. Her lawyer didn’t immediately return a message left at his office.
