A Corinna woman was killed in a head-on collision Saturday night on Route 2 in Pittsfield. Eight other people were injured.

Camille Ortolano, 67, was killed when the car she was riding in struck another vehicle at about 8:30 p.m., Maine State Police said.

Her husband, Joseph Ortolano, 68, was driving their Jeep Wrangler eastbound when he lost control on black ice and struck a Chevy Tahoe head-on, state police said.

Camille Ortolano was pronounced dead at the scene. Her husband was taken to Sabasticook Valley Medical Center in Pittsfield with multiple injuries.

All seven occupants of the Tahoe – the driver, Michael Pease, 43, of Industry; his wife, Heather Willis, 41; and their five children – were taken to Sabasticook Valley Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries, state police said.

The road was closed at the crash site until midnight.
