The presidential year campaign season is upon us. In Maine, the formal process for choosing a Presidential candidate begins the first weekend in March with caucuses in towns and cities across the state. In Standish, we are encouraging you to make your vote count by participating in either the Republican caucus on Saturday, March 5 or the Democratic caucus on Sunday, March 6.

As a member of the Standish Democratic Town Committee, I am inviting you to attend the Democratic Caucus at Standish Town Hall from 1-3 p.m. If you wish to vote in the caucus but are not registered to vote or are currently registered to vote but “unenrolled,” come to the Caucus at noon. From noon-1 p.m., the Standish Town Clerk will be present to register you to vote and/or enroll you in the Democratic party. To avoid a rush on the Sunday, March 6, caucus day, you can register to vote and/or enroll at Standish Town Hall from Monday through Thursday.

If you are unable to attend the Democratic Caucus on Sunday, March 6, but want to vote, you can vote by absentee ballot. Go to mainedems.org and request an absentee ballot either online or by mail. The deadline for voting by absentee ballot is Wednesday, March 2, at 5 p.m.

In Standish, and throughout Maine, your caucus vote is important and part of what makes a democracy. We invite you to join us on Sunday, March 6!
