I was one of many who waited for four hours at Deering High School last Sunday for the Democratic caucus. There were many hundreds behind me.

Leaving aside the incompetent management of the caucus, let’s get real and accomplish this step with primaries.

A caucus only ensures lower voter participation because it requires way too much time.

A caucus also deprives voters of a secret ballot, which should be the method of any important vote in our democracy.

Anyone who doesn’t know who they’re voting for by this stage is not trying hard enough.

Please, no more caucuses!
