CLERMONT, Fla. — Matthew Crowell and Daniel Buckman each had two goals and an assist Tuesday as Bowdoin topped Stevens Institute of Technology 11-7 in men’s lacrosse.

The Polars Bears (4-1) used a 5-2 second-half run to pull away from the Ducks (6-2).

Shawn Daly, Brett Kujala and JC Pardo added two goals apiece for the Polar Bears, who scored five straight goals between the second and third quarters to erase a 5-3 deficit.

WASHINGTON & LEE 7, COLBY 6: A.J. Witherell scored three goals for the Generals (6-2) as they built a 7-3 third-quarter lead and held on to edge the Mules (2-4) at Herndon, Virginia.

Alex Rutan, Kevin Bell, Sam Wasserman, Myles Smith, Colton Michel and Max Cushman scored for the Mules.

BOWDOIN: Katie Gately hit a three-run double to cap a six-run second inning for the Polar Bears (7-4) as they downed Lawrence 10-2 in five innings in their first game of the day at Clermont, Florida.

Caroline Rice added three hits, two RBI and one run scored for the Polar Bears and Julia Geaumont collected two hits, two RBI and two runs scored.

Bowdoin starter Emily Griffin struck out eight and walked two, giving up three hits over four shutout innings to earn the win.

In their second game, the Polar Bears lost 8-1 against Wisconsin-Oshkosh.

COLBY: Hannah Turek had two hits and drove in two runs to lead D’Youville (2-5) past the Mules 5-1 at Clermont, Florida.

Colby (1-3) got their run on a home run by Paige Hartnett in the bottom of the sixth inning.

In their second game, Colby defeated Loras 7-6 in nine innings.

WOMEN’S BASKETBALL

BENTLEY 53, VIRGINIA UNION 52: Victoria Lux (Arundel/Thornton Academy) finished with nine points, 11 rebounds and five assists and also had a key block late in the game as the Falcons (29-5) held on to edge the Panthers (28-3) in the quarterfinals of the NCAA Division II championship at Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

Kiana Johnson, the leading scorer in Division II this season, took a jump shot in the paint with 8 seconds left that was blocked by Lux. Following the block, Johnson collected the loose ball and took another shot that rimmed out.

Bentley advances to face Lubbock Christian (33-0) in the semifinals at 7 p.m. Wednesday.

MEN’S BASKETBALL

NIT: Alec Peters scored 20 points for his seventh straight 20-plus game and Valparaiso advanced to its first semifinal with a 60-44 victory against visiting Saint Mary’s.

Tevonn Walker opened the second-half scoring with a 3-pointer to give Valparaiso a 32-31 lead – its first since 17-16. Shane Hammink’s putback extended it to 40-31 and capped a 16-0 run. Saint Mary’s was held scoreless for nine-plus minutes, spanning the halves, and missed it first 10 shots of the second half.

• Freshman Zac Seljaas made 5 of 6 3-pointers and scored 19 points and BYU used a big second half to beat Creighton 88-82 in the quarterfinals.

The Cougars (26-10) will face Valparaiso (29-6) at Madison Square Garden on March 29.
