During the last two years, the state of Maine has lost five paper mills to bankruptcy. The irony in all of this is: Where is our governor when all these closings are taking place? Where is U.S. Sen. Susan Collins?
When there is good news, they don’t have a problem with having their photos on the front page of the local newspaper or on the nightly news.
The governor is holding weekly town hall meetings focusing on taking food and rent subsidies away from the needy of our state. In my opinion, his time would be better spent trying to keep these plants open.
Our newspaper and Susan Collins are so proud to tell us that our senator has never missed a vote on the floor of the Senate. Maybe she should miss a few votes and spend time in the state trying to stop this escalating problem of paper mill closures.
