We enjoyed Joe’s Boathouse for many years (until it closed last fall), but we’re pleased to hear that another restaurant in a new and improved building may open in the same location.
Joe’s had a very positive impact on the South Portland economy. People came from many directions to go to Joe’s. While in town, they might buy a new car, do shopping, look at boats – spend money.
Additionally, a good restaurant gets mentioned on travel websites, in reviews, etc. That alone can draw people to Maine.
Joe’s added a level of sophistication and quality to a city that can always use more. The neighbors next door need to look beyond the end of their arm and realize that the new facility will be a major asset, good for the entire city.
