HARTFORD, Conn. — Trinity broke a 3-3 tie on Brendan Pierce’s RBI single in the bottom of the sixth inning and held on to edge Bowdoin 4-3 in a New England Small College Athletic Conference baseball opener Friday.
Trinity (6-9, 1-0) took advantage of four errors to score three runs in the first inning. The Polar Bears (8-4, 0-1) responded with a three-run rally in the second inning that started with Nick Sadler’s RBI single.
Harry Ridge took the loss for the Polar Bears.
SOFTBALL
TUFTS 7, BOWDOIN 5: Samantha Siciliano hit a go-ahead two-run homer in the bottom of the sixth to lift the Jumbos (8-6, 1-0 NESCAC) over the Polar Bears (9-7-1, 0-1) at Medford, Massachusetts.
Julia Geaumont’s two-run double helped the Polar Bears take a 5-1 lead they couldn’t hold.
