Extensive testing at the Marginal Way office building where three people fell ill on Friday of suspected carbon monoxide sickness did not detect the presence of the odorless gas, according to building managers.

Atlantic Bayside Trust, which owns the office building at 84 Marginal Way, performed seven diagnostic tests to determine the cause of the illnesses.

No carbon monoxide was detected Friday or Saturday in multiple air quality tests, and blood tests of the three hospitalized workers showed no traces of the gas, which is deadly in high enough concentrations but impossible to detect without special meters.

The company will continue to monitor air quality in the building this week, it said in a statement.

“Our responsibility to all the people who work or visit 84 Marginal Way is of the utmost importance to Atlantic Bayside Trust,” said Jim Hanley, of Atlantic Bayside Trust. “At this point, we can say definitively that there was no carbon monoxide and that the reported dizziness or nausea were unrelated to the building.”
