It was refreshing to read the article regarding the shooting range issue in Maine (“Gov. LePage signs shooting range protection into law,” April 6).

Congratulations to our state representatives and senators for listening to voices of the people they serve and acting upon those wishes. I thank them for using common sense – something severely lacking in today’s society – by enacting a bill to protect the rights of pre-existing shooting ranges from litigation initiated by an influx of “new neighbors” expecting unreasonable changes in the neighborhood.

While I am not a fan of our present governor for a variety of reasons, I want to thank Gov. LePage for having good judgment and signing this bill into law. Preserving the integrity of Maine’s heritage is paramount to our incredible state and what it has been known for throughout the ages.
