A Winslow High School student has been charged in connection with a bomb scare Friday at the school.
Brandon Ward, 18, of Winslow, is charged with Class C terrorizing, according to a news release from Winslow Police Chief Shawn O’Leary.
Ward allegedly reported to the school’s office that there was a threat written on a wall in the boys’ restroom around 8:45 a.m. Friday, the release said.
The school was evacuated and searched by police officers and dogs from the Maine State Police. The school was deemed safe and students returned to the building at 10:45 a.m. Friday.
Over the weekend, investigators reviewed security footage from the school and determined that Ward had written the message on the bathroom wall.
He is scheduled to appear June 27 in Kennebec County Superior Court in Augusta for an arraignment.
