GORHAM — Sam Dexter drove home three runs and scored twice Tuesday, leading the University of Southern Maine to a 6-1 victory against Husson in a nonconference baseball game.

The Huskies (14-5) built a 6-0 lead through four innings and cruised past the Eagles (11-10). Dexter doubled home Paul McDonough and scored on a throwing error for two runs in the first. McDonough also scored on Dexter’s two-run homer in the third. McDonough singled home Kip Richard and Kyle O’Connor scored on a wild pitch for two more runs in the fourth.

J.T. Whitten’s fifth-inning single drove in Alex Chapman for Husson.

THOMAS 4, COLBY 0: Anree Benitez doubled home Derek LeBlanc to cap a four-run second inning as visiting Thomas (11-10) beat the Mules (5-13) at Waterville. Hank Vinall singled home Aron Smestad for the first run. Max Salevsky scored on a balk and Vinall on a wild pitch to make it 3-0.

Terriers starter Nik Beeston yielded four hits over six innings, striking out six. Dan Csaplar had three of Colby’s five hits.

UNIVERSITY OF NEW ENGLAND 13, WENTWORTH 8: Alex Zadworny scored three of the six first-quarter goals for the Nor’easters (9-5, 4-1 Commonwealth Coast) against Wentworth Institute of Technology (3-9, 1-3) at Boston. Dan Auger notched three goals and three assists for UNE. Mitch Mullin also had three goals, and Zadworny recorded an assist with his three goals.

Tom Luttrell added two Nor’easter goals, with Connor Leggett and Matt Layton scoring once each. Spencer Allen scored four times and Alec Paradis three for the Leopards.

KEENE STATE 13, BOWDOIN 12: Hunter Arnold scored from Bryan Rotatori to give Keene State (7-3) a 10-9 lead with three minutes left in the third quarter, then set up Rotatori two minutes later for an 11-9 lead over the Polar Bears (9-2) at Brunswick. Bowdoin pulled within one three times in the fourth period.

Rotatori finished with four goals and Tyler Reilly three for the Owls. Brett Kujala had four goals and Peter Reuter added three for Bowdoin.

WOMEN’S LACROSSE

UNIVERSITY OF NEW ENGLAND 19, WENTWORTH 8: Korinne Bohunsky dominanted for the Nor’easters (8-4, 4-1 Commonwealth Coast), piling up five goals and 11 draw controls against Wentworth Institute of Technology (2-10, 0-4) at Boston. Jolena Lampron and Nicole Carvalho each scored three times for New England, and Natasha Nary and Jocelyn Davee notched two goals apiece.

Lampron also contributed seven ground balls and five caused turnovers.

Reserve Liz Glavin scored three goals for the Leopards, who also received a pair of goals from Brooke Paradis.

COLBY 11, BOWDOIN 5: Sasha Fritts scored five goals, including the opening three of the game, to help the Mules (9-2, 5-2 NESCAC) beat Bowdoin (5-7, 1-7) at Waterville.

Fritts led Colby to a 5-1 halftime margin, then contributed two goals in the final 16 minutes.

Kelsey Bowen and Lexie Perticone each had two goals, and Kendall Smith added one goal and one assist for Colby. Lindsay Picard scored twice, and Megan O’Connor had one goal and one assist for Bowdoin.
