BIDDEFORD — The University of New England scored six straight goals in the second half to rally for a 10-9 win over Western New England in a Commonwealth Coast Conference women’s lacrosse game Saturday.

The Nor’easters (9-4, 5-1 CCC) trailed 8-4 with 20 minutes remaining before goals by Jolena Lampron and Kimberly Gosselin started the comeback. Korinne Bohunsky and Nicole Carvalho scored two minutes apart to tie it, and Jocelyn Davee put UNE ahead with her third goal of the game. Carvalho added an insurance goal with a minute remaining.

Bohunsky and Lampron each finished with two goals, helping UNE extending its winning streak to four.

Brooke Kumnick scored five goals for WNEC (9-5, 3-3).

ST. JOSEPH’S 21, RIVIER 4: Elyse Caiazzo had four goals and three assists and Kelsey Dumond added four goals and one assist as the Monks (11-2, 5-0 GNAC) cruised to a win over the Raiders (6-7, 3-3) in Nashua, New Hampshire.

Mary Leasure contributed two goals and six assists. Kat Gadbois, Elizabeth Elcock and Jackie Wilson chipped in with three goals apiece.

BOWDOIN 11, WESLEYAN 10: Lindsay Picard scored twice late in the second half to help the Polar Bears (6-7, 2-7 NESCAC) edge the Cardinals (4-8, 1-7) in Brunswick.

Picard and Emma Beecher finished with three goals apiece.

COLBY 14, WILLIAMS 9: The Mules (10-2, 6-2 NESCAC) scored five straight goals in the second half to pull away from the Ephs (4-8, 2-6) at Waterville.

Kendall Smith finished with four goals and a pair of assists for Colby. Kelsey Bowen and Abby Hooper each scored three goals, and Lexie Perticone had a goal and four assists.

KEENE STATE 13, SOUTHERN MAINE 8: Jenna Bellano had three goals and three assists to pace the Owls (7-6, 3-0 Little East) against the Huskies (3-7, 0-3) at Keene, New Hampshire.

Sarah Pelligrinelli led USM with three goals.

SOFTBALL

ST. JOSEPH’S SWEEPS RIVIER: Jennifer Murphy and Megen Pollini each had three hits and three RBI to pace the Monks (13-11, 8-4 GNAC) in a 13-1, six-inning win over the Raiders (7-13, 2-8) in a doubleheader opener at Nashua, New Hampshire.

Mariah Harrison added two hits, three RBI and two runs scored, and Carla Tripp had three hits and scored three runs. Erica Boulanger struck out 10 while tossing a three-hitter.

In Game 2, Murphy drove in a pair of runs for the Monks in a 5-3 victory.

MAINE SPLITS WITH BINGHAMTON: Erin Bogdanovich pitched a three-hitter as Maine (16-15, 5-2 America East) shut out Binghamton (21-11, 7-1) in the second game of a doubleheader in Orono, winning 3-0 after losing 7-3 in the opener.

Kristen Niland led Maine’s offense in Game 2 with a double, a triple and two RBI.

Niland also had two hits in Game 1, and Janelle Bouchard hit two doubles and drove in a run.

UNIVERSITY OF NEW ENGLAND SWEEPS NICHOLS: Kelly Murphy hit a two-run single in the first inning and Abby Lambert struck out six in six innings to lead the Nor’easters (19-7, 10-4 Commonwealth Coast) to a 5-0 win over the Bison (10-12, 4-6) in a doubleheader opener at Biddeford.

Amanda Vallante added three hits, and Caroline Schoenbucher had two hits, scored two runs and drove in one.

In Game 2, Sydney Helmbrecht had two hits and three RBI in a 5-2 victory.

USM SPLITS WITH UMASS- DARTMOUTH: Sammi Goode struck out 14 and pitched a two-hitter as Southern Maine (15-8-1, 2-4 Little East) began its doubleheader with a 2-1 victory over the Corsairs (21-8, 4-2) in Gorham.

Taylor Lux doubled home Amber Kelly and scored on a single by Shelby Obert to give USM a 2-0 lead in the third inning.

Goode surrendered a run on an error in the fifth.

UMass-Dartmouth took the second game 2-1, despite three hits by USM’s Courtney Davis.

BOWDOIN, COLBY SPLIT: Wiley Houlton struck out eight batters while tossing a five-hitter and also drove in all three runs for Colby (8-12, 2-4 NESCAC) in a 3-0 win over the Polar Bears (14-11-2, 4-5) at Brunswick.

In Game 2, Caroline Rice hit a two-run double in the fifth inning and finished with three hits in Bowdoin’s 3-1 victory. Julia Geaumont pitched a four-hitter to earn the win.

AMHERST SWEEPS BATES: Karen Lockhart drove in three runs with a homer and a triple in the second game, but it wasn’t enough to prevent Bates (0-20, 0-6 NESCAC) from losing a doubleheader against Amherst (17-5, 4-1), which won 8-0 and 7-4 in Amherst, Massachusetts.

ST. JOSEPH (VT.) SWEEPS SOUTHERN MAINE C.C.: Samantha Rioux hit an RBI double in the opener and Grace Davis had an RBI single in Game 2 for SMCC (7-18, 5-10 YSCC), which lost two five-inning games in South Portland.

St. Joseph’s improved to 17-9 overall, 11-1 in the conference.
