HARTFORD, Conn. — Ben Reinisch and Daniel Pidgeon each hit an RBI single in the bottom of the 10th inning to give Trinity a 9-8 win over Bates in a New England Small College Athletic Conference baseball game Friday afternoon.

Bates (10-14, 2-4 NESCAC) took an 8-7 lead in the top of the 10th when Jamie Kennedy scored on an RBI single by Ryan McCarthy.

McCarthy finished with two hits and three RBI for the Bobcats. Berto Diaz had two hits, two RBI and one run scored, and Brendan Fox contributed three hits.

Trinity improved to 12-14 overall, 5-5 in the conference.

TUFTS 7, COLBY 6: Harry Brown’s single in the 10th inning drove in the winning run as the Jumbos (19-4, 6-0 NESCAC) defeated the White Mules (10-16, 3-4) in Medford, Massachusetts.

Harrison Frickman’s two-run homer in the bottom of the eighth tied the game at 5-5. Both teams scored one run in the ninth.

Tommy Forese and Tyler Starks each had two hits for Colby.

SOUTHERN MAINE C.C. 10, NHTI 3: Kyle Reichert hit a two-run double and Nate Boyle added a two-run triple to spark a six-run seventh inning for the Seawolves (13-19, 7-6 YSCC) as they pulled away for a win over the Lynx (4-16, 4-7) in South Portland.

Reichert finished with three hits and scored three runs. Edgar Montan also scored three runs, and Chase Morales drove in two.

Amos Herrin and Nathaniel Cyr combined to close out the game with 31/3 shutout innings of relief.

SOFTBALL

COLBY 3, TRINITY 1: Emily Schatz’s two-run triple broke a 1-1 tie in the fifth inning, and the Mules (12-13, 3-4 NESCAC) held on to edge the Bantams (15-10, 3-4) in Hartford, Connecticut.

Colby took a 1-0 lead in the third inning on an RBI double by Tori Sansone. Trinity’s Nicole Towner homered in the fourth.

Julia Saul had three strikeouts and two walks while tossing a four-hitter for the Mules. Sansone, Samantha Rizzo and Grace Farnkoff each had two hits for Colby.

TUFTS 9, BATES 0: Cassie Ruscz hit a pair of homers and finished with six RBI to lead the Jumbos (20-7, 10-0 NESCAC) over the Bobcats (3-24, 0-7) in six innings at Lewiston.

Bates was limited to three hits, all by Maddie Inlow, who had a double and two singles.
