Having just turned 18, I’ve been anticipating my first opportunity to vote. However, this presidential election season hasn’t offered hope for unity or a clear vision of America’s future.
While current American politics might be synonymous with cynicism and disappointment, I’m confident in a Republican primary candidate to represent the 1st Congressional District: Ande Smith.
Although Ande is an enigma, he possesses the qualities of an effective leader. A self-proclaimed political outsider, he nevertheless has put himself in the middle of big decisions. A former naval officer, Smith was sent to the G-20 summit in Berlin. Recently, he was appointed to the Maine State Board of Education.
In an election where voters are expressing their frustration with gridlock in Congress, Ande looks to change the negative tone. Over 70 percent of U.S. voters are dissatisfied with politicians – this is the right time for Maine to send Ande Smith to Congress.
