Today is Father’s Day and I’m not sure we could ask for better weather. Dad’s day should be special and the weather this year will be one big smiling sunshine, after a few clouds this morning.

If Dad likes to play a round of golf, it will be dry and cool for the early round, but warming up in the lowers 80s during the afternoon. If he’s playing a course by the sea, he can expect temperatures to be cooler, mostly in the 70s.

The sun is very strong—actually the most intense of the entire year this weekend—so be sure you and Dad have sunscreen.

If you’re heading to the beach, look for light winds and pleasant temperatures at the shoreline. High tide will occur just before noon, along with a light wind which may turn into a sea breeze in a few spots. Generally winds will be from the south, otherwise.

Water temperatures remain quite chilly, so have a towel handy.

Sunrise is at the earlier levels of the entire year and the sunset is also within a couple of minutes of the latest times we experience. This gives us well over 15 hours of daylight everywhere—and this is the weekend with the most daylight on the calendar.

Depending on when you read this, temperatures will likely already be moving off their morning lows, quickly get into the 70s by the mid-to-late morning, and then head into the lower 80s  especially inland.

I can’t rule out some clouds early this morning and this afternoon in the mountains, but generally we are looking at a great day overall and no chance of rain.

Barbecue weather for lunch or dinner will be ideal. The sun will be the only issue if your grill isn’t in the shade: Temperatures in full-on sun this weekend will definitely be on the warmer side.

The next chance of seeing clouds and showers comes Tuesday, when a cold front crosses the region. This front is likely to bring showers and thunderstorms Tuesday before the evening commute.  Because the showers are coming in the morning, I don’t expect them to produce any severe weather, but I can’t rule out a more typical thunderstorm.
