ELLSWORTH — Police in Maine say a three-car crash involving a tractor-trailer truck has sent five people to the hospital.
Ellsworth Lt. Harold Page says a car heading south on Route 1 Thursday crossed the center line and hit the tractor-trailer. The car then hit another vehicle head-on.
The passengers in one of the cars — a woman and two children — were ejected from the vehicle. The driver had to be extricated.
The driver of the other car and the driver of the tractor-trailer didn’t appear to be seriously hurt. All five people were taken to the hospital. The extent of the woman and children’s injuries wasn’t immediately known. WLBZ-TV reports that one of the children has a head injury.
The crash remains under investigation.
