Sam Troiano hit the go-ahead RBI single in the top of the eighth and also recorded the save to lead Yankee Ford to a 3-1 win over Coastal in a Zone 3 American Legion game in Portland on Tuesday night.

Coastal (9-8) took a 1-0 lead in the third on an RBI single by Logan McCarthy.

Colby Dame of Coastal struck out six over six innings.

Troiano hit an RBI single in the sixth to tie the game at 1-1 before driving in the winning run in extra innings for Yankee Ford (17-0). He finished with three hits and two RBI.

SEBAGO 5, LIBBY-MITCHELL 4: Zachary Alpern hit a two-run double in the top of the fourth inning to help Sebago beat Libby-Mitchell in a Zone 3 game in Scarborough.

Tanner Leberge threw a complete game for Sebago, allowing four runs on seven hits and striking out three. Tim Carion and Jared Seymour each had two hits to lead Libby Mitchell.

ANDREWS 5, SUMMIT GAS 0: Max Fortier threw a two-hit shutout and Andrews (6-8) beat Summit Gas (3-14) in a Zone 3 game in Portland.

Fortier struck out 10 and walked one. Cameron King had three hits, including a two-run double in the first inning. William Snyder added a pair of hits for Andrews.

WELLS 10, BONANZA 2: Six players recorded multiple hits for Wells (11-4) as it defeated Sanford in a Zone 4 game in Wells.

Liam Bell of Wells finished with two hits, including a double, and scored four times.

Nick Cousins picked up the win, pitching five innings, striking out nine and allowing just two hits.

YORK 2, FAYETTE STAPLES 1: Alexander Neilson hit a walk-off sacrifice fly in the eighth inning as York (1-13) defeated Fayette Staples (12-3) in a Zone 4 matchup at Thornton Academy.

York took a 1-0 lead in the fourth on an RBI single by Jack Kelley.

Fayette Staples tied it 1-1 in the sixth on an RBI single by Ben Lambert.

Shane MacNeil of York led off the eighth with a single and later scored on Neilson’s sacrifice fly to help York to its first win of the year.

Andrew Rodriguez of York pitched six innings, allowing five hits, no walks and striking out four.


THIRSTY TURF 11, SACO BIDDEFORD SAVINGS 0: Dom Casale tripled and scored twice to lead Thirsty Turf over Saco Biddeford Savings (2-12) in six innings at Biddeford.

Justin Ray doubled and scored three times, and Jack Mullen picked up the win by striking out six in a complete game.

WESTBROOK 15, CAPE ELIZABETH 5: Justin Coppetta recorded three hits and two RBI to lead Westbrook (12-2) over Cape Elizabeth (6-7) at Westbrook.

Cape Elizabeth took a 1-0 lead on an RBI single by Cole Hoffman in the second. Hoffman led the team with three hits.

Westbrook took control of the game in the bottom of the second, scoring six runs.

Kyle Champagne of Westbrook finished with two hits and two RBI, highlighted by a two-run triple in the fifth.

Brandon Grover picked up the win, pitching seven innings and striking out two.

DEERING 4, SACO 3: Luke Hill hit the go-ahead RBI double in the fifth inning to lead Deering over Saco in Portland.

Luke Ham hit a two-run single in the fifth to put Saco ahead 3-1.

Deering responded in the bottom of the fifth with RBI singles by Luke Harrison and Joe Pelletier to tie the game at 3, before Hill’s RBI double drove in the winning run.

Mike Jones of Deering picked up the win.
