SACO — David Stevens Vining, 69, of Saco, passed away in Portland on Friday, July 15, 2016, with his family by his side.

He was born in Portland on March 29, 1947. He graduated from Windham High school in 1965, then attended trade school, where he earned an associate’s degree. After graduation, he worked for the city of Portland as a civil engineer.

David was an Eagle Scout and enjoyed volunteering his time with the Boy Scouts. He especially enjoyed camping at the jamborees. He also enjoyed other outside activities, especially hunting and fishing.

He is survived by: his wife of 39 years, Gerry (Trottier) Vining; two sons, David S. Vining II and Michael Sharkey; two daughters, Karen Botting and Brenda O’Leary; two granddaughters, Chelsea and Katie Morin; and a great-grandson, Tyson.

Family and friends are invited to attend a graveside service at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Biddeford at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 20, followed by a celebration of life reception at David and Gerry’s house.
