After 20 years of distinguished public service as president of the University of Maine-Farmington and the University of Southern Maine, Theo Kalikow moved to Scarborough, where she is now the Democratic candidate in House District 29.

At Farmington, Theo transformed a once-obscure state teachers college into a nationally ranked public liberal arts institution. I know Theo, and I believe she will have a positive impact as a state legislator and be an effective spokesperson for the interests of Scarborough.

Theo is a strong leader who believes that spending on public education at all levels is the best investment in the future that we can make. She knows this objective cannot and should not be achieved primarily through local property tax increases, and she supports greater State responsibility in educational funding and fairer taxation.

Theo Kalikow combines a passion for public service with insight and know-how. Let’s send her to Augusta.
