SCARBOROUGH — Voters will choose from four candidates for two Town Council seats on the Nov. 8 ballot.

There are also two uncontested elections for the Board of Education.

All the elections are for at-large positions.

Council Chairman Bill Donovan is seeking re-election to a second term on the council. Councilor Jean-Marie Caterina opted not to seek re-election because she is running as a Democrat to unseat state Sen. Amy Volk, R-Scarborough, in Senate District 30.

Donovan’s challengers are Marjorie DeSanctis, of Beech Ridge Road, a recent unsuccessful candidate for the state House; Kathleen Foley, of Lucky Lane, and former School Board member Annalee Rosenblatt, of Tall Pines Road.

In the School Board election, incumbents Cari Lyford and Jodi Shea are the only candidates who filed nomination papers by the Sept. 7 deadline. 

Shea was first elected in 2013 and is seeking a second three-year term. Lyford was elected last November to complete the term held by Jane Leng, who resigned early last year. 

David Nelson, of Black Point Road, and Aubrey Strause, of Beech Ridge Road, filed nomination papers for two seats on the Sanitary District Board of Trustees. 

Absentee ballots will become available in early October and can be picked up at the town clerk’s office in the municipal building, 259 U.S. Route 1. 

Absentee ballots must be returned to the clerk’s office by 4 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 3. Questions should be directed to the clerk’s office, 730-4020.
