STANDISH — Julia Banks scored on a 20-yard shot to break a tie with 12 minutes remaining Wednesday night, and South Portland went on to a 3-1 victory against Bonny Eagle in an SMAA schoolgirl soccer game.

Banks’ shot broke a 1-1 tie. Victoria Nixon added a goal for the Red Riots (3-1) in the final two minutes.

Juliana Selser of the Red Riots and Cassidy Koons of Bonny Eagle (1-3) scored on direct kicks to forge the 1-1 tie.

Zoe Brown and Maria Buck alternated for five saves for South Portland. Maddie Cole saved eight shots for Bonny Eagle.

DEERING 6, BIDDEFORD 1: Mia Sargent scored the first of her two goals to ignite a five-goal first half as Deering (3-1) took command against the Tigers (0-3) at Biddeford.

Annah Rossvall, Sophie Silva, Maggie Healy and Sahar Habibzai followed with goals before Chantel Gagnon converted a penalty kick just before the half for Biddeford.

SANFORD 8, MAINE GIRLS’ ACADEMY 0: Vanessa Hodge and Julia Allen each scored twice, and Marli Wilson had a goal and an assist as Sanford (3-0) raced past the Lions (0-4) at Portland.

Molly Boissonneault, Nicole LeBlanc and Summer Camire also scored, and Nicky Perez made seven saves for the Spartans. Carly Beaulieu and Hope Olson combined for 15 saves for MGA.

TRAIP ACADEMY 9, BUCKFIELD 0: Sadie Humiston scored twice off direct kicks and converted a penalty kick to lead the Rangers (2-3) over Buckfield (2-1) at Kittery.

Emma Auclair, who also had an assist, and Yaya Dunn scored twice for Traip. Olivia Lawrence and Beti Stevens also had goals.

CHEVERUS 3, WESTBROOK 0: Lauren Jordan scored twice to lead the Stags (3-1) past the Blue Blazes (0-3-1) at Westbrook.

Emma Gallant assisted on both of Jordan’s goals. Gallant also scored with five minutes remaining.

WINDHAM 0, MARSHWOOD 0: Kaitlyn Roberts stopped seven shots for the Eagles (2-0-2) and Nathalie Clavette made four saves for Marshwood (2-1-1) at Windham.

Marshwood outshot Windham 17-12 in a match dominated by a strong wind.

FIELD HOCKEY

NORTH YARMOUTH ACADEMY 7, MAINE GIRLS’ ACADEMY/WAYNFETE 0: Olivia Juve, Amber Rose and Kiersten Marr led North Yarmouth Academy (3-0-2) over the Lions (0-2) at Portland.

TRAIP ACADEMY 3, SACOPEE VALLEY 2: Amelia Sullivan lifted in a shot with less than two minutes remaining, giving Traip Academy (4-1) a win against the Hawks (1-4) at South Hiram.

Sierra O’Brien’s goal staked the Rangers to a 1-0 halftime lead. Savanna Marlowe, from Haiden Sawyer, and Abby Mosson scored in the opening seven minutes of the second half to put Sacopee ahead 2-1, but Claudia Serna tied it seconds late.

CAPE ELIZABETH 3, GREELY 2: Taylor Young scored in overtime to lift the Capers (2-2) past the Rangers (3-3) at Cape Elizabeth.

Julia Lennon of Cape Elizabeth scored with 46 seconds remaining in regulation to make it 2-2. Sydney Meredith-Pickett and Elizabeth Brown scored for the Rangers.

POLAND 1, FRYEBURG ACADEMY 1: After Jade Fox gave the Raiders (2-2-1) a 1-0 lead with 7:07 remaining in the first half, Brianna Doucette tied it for Poland (2-2-1) with 16 minutes left in regulation at Fryeburg. Ashton Sturtevant recorded 13 saves for the Knights. Bridget Fahey stopped four shots for Fryeburg.

BOYS’ SOCCER

A.R. GOULD 2, SEACOAST CHRISTIAN 1: Tyrese Collins, off a pass from Issak Aliyow, broke away for the winning goal, breaking a 1-1 with 13 minutes left as A.R. Gould (2-2) beat Seacoast Christian (1-1) at South Portland.

Abdi Ibrahim scored for Gould in the first half before Ethan Bowker tied it in the second.
