While many will lament that Bath Iron Works won’t be building the new Coast Guard cutters, this should be a wake-up call for the onerous work rules that impede productivity at The Yard.
That, coupled with a predominantly bad attitude on the part of labor, led to the current crisis.
If General Dynamics could keep a labor force that endorsed productivity, and get rid of the sloths, we might see the next contract come our way.
Instead, the unions will insist that the most recently hired be the first to go, leaving behind those who caused this problem in the first place.
