Let’s really look at Question 2.

I would like to say that I am pro teacher, pro student and pro education, but there are flaws in this new school “aid.”

The state promised that the lottery would really help bail out education. Then we were told that the 55 percent referendum would be the answer. Now we want to tax certain people.

First, this money is actually going to be designated for salaries. Second, the state will have control of the money. So what makes anyone think the education system will get it?

What if there are more shortfalls? What law do we have to protect that money? What do we do to stop people and businesses from leaving or coming to Maine?

Should we give those parents who pay “extra” special treatment because they pay more for education than maybe I do? We need to find a better solution.
