ACTON — Patricia M. Petersen, 53, of Acton, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, Sept. 30, 2016, at Maine Medical Center in Portland.

She was born in Dorchester, Massachusetts, on May 13, 1963, the daughter of Thomas M. and Noella (Aylward) Garrity. She was raised in Quincy, Massachusetts, and was a graduate of Quincy High School, Class of 1981.

She worked as a dog groomer at Brian’s Kennel for 17 years.

Patty always enjoyed family times such as the many vacations, holidays and celebrations they shared.

Patty moved to her beautiful farmhouse in Maine in 2003, where she enjoyed all her life passions: taking care of her horses and animals, gardening, cooking and starting a vineyard. She and her husband Mike realized their dream of opening their own restaurant, Emily’s Woodfired Pizza in Springvale.

Patty will be remembered and sorely missed by so many lives that she touched as a caring, giving, loving person who lived life to the fullest.

She is survived by: her husband of 25 years, Michael S. Petersen of Acton; her daughter, Emily Petersen of Acton; her mother, Noella Garrity of Quincy; two sisters, Kathy Sweeney and her husband Richard of Scituate, Massachusetts, and Maura Garrity of San Francisco; and a brother, Jim Garrity of Quincy.

Visitation will be 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 8, at Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home, 580 Main St., Springvale. A funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
