ORONO — Mitchell Fossier scored the go-ahead goal with 10:29 remaining and Maine got three unanswered goals in the third period Saturday night to earn a 4-2 men’s hockey victory over RPI.
RPI (0-2) tallied a short-handed goal 5:35 into the game. The Black Bears (2-0) tied it 10 minutes later when Blaine Byron scored on an assist from Cam Brown.
The Engineers regained the lead 5:23 into the second period and stayed in front until Daniel Perez made it 2-2 at 5:50 of the third period, assisted by Patrick Shea and Ryan Smith.
Chase Pearson’s empty-net goal with eight seconds left secured the victory.
Rob McGovern finished with 39 saves for the Black Bears. Chase Perry made 37 saves for the Engineers.

ST. JOSEPH’S 3, SIMMONS 0: Libby Pomerleau scored three goals, including two in the second half as the Monks (6-5, 3-1 GNAC) beat the Sharks (7-5, 3-1) in Standish.
Megan Baker made seven saves for the Monks.
SOUTHERN MAINE 4, FRAMINGHAM STATE 0: The Huskies (6-8, 5-3 Little East) scored three times in the second half to beat the Rams (2-11, 1-7) in Framingham, Massachusetts.
Kaitlin Hilton tallied a goal in each half. Jennifer Poulin and Leanne Reichert also scored.
BOWDOIN 1, TRINITY 0: Mettler Growney broke a scoreless tie in the 68th minute as the Polar Bears (9-1, 5-1 NESCAC) beat the Bantams (8-2, 4-2) in Brunswick.
BATES 1, CONNECTICUT COLLEGE 0: Lauren Foster scored off a pass from Taylor Lough seven minutes into overtime as the Bobcats (6-5, 3-5 NESCAC) beat the Camels (1-9, 1-6) in Lewiston.
Adelae Durand made three saves for Bates.

CONNECTICUT COLLEGES 2, BATES 1: Pat Devlin scored two goals, including the winner in double overtime, as the Camels (8-2, 4-2 NESCAC) beat the Bobcats (3-6-2, 1-6-1) in Lewiston.
Peder Bakken scored in the first half to give Bates a 1-0 lead. Devlin tied it in the second half.
PLYMOUTH STATE 6, SOUTHERN MAINE 1: Dan Shaw and Nick Rutherford each scored a pair of goals as the Panthers (4-6-1, 2-4-1 Little East) beat the Huskies (1-9-3, 0-4) in Plymouth, New Hampshire.
Agbonsalo Osarumwens gave USM a 1-0 lead in the first half.
WESLEYAN 3, COLBY 1: Adam Cowie-Haskell scored a pair of second-half goals as the Cardinals (5-4-1, 2-4 NESCAC) beat the Mules (3-5-2, 1-3-2) in Waterville.
Jansen Aoyama scored in the first half as Colby tied it at 1-1.
TRINITY 1, BOWDOIN 0: Henry Farr scored in the second overtime with an assist from Oliver Murphy as the Bantams (6-4, 3-4 NESCAC) beat the Polar Bears (5-3-2, 1-3-1) in Brunswick.
SOUTHERN MAINE CC 1, UNITY 0: Douglas Cloutier scored 8:19 into the first half off a pass from Jeremy Miller and the Seawolves (1-1, 1-1 YSCC) held on to beat the Rams (6-3-1, 5-2) in South Portland.
CURRY 2, UNIVERSITY OF NEW ENGLAND 1: Steven DePina and Christian Mancini each scored in the first half and the Colonels (6-8-1, 2-3-1 Commonwealth Coast) beat the Nor’easters (2-8-4, 0-5-1) in Milton, Massachusetts.
UNE cut the deficit to 2-1 on a goal by Ryan Stephens with 8:05 left.
ST. JOSEPH’S 2, ALBERTUS MAGNUS 0: Brett Mattos scored a pair of goals to lift the Monks (10-1-3, 5-0 GNAC) over the Falcons (7-4-1, 2-2-1) in New Haven, Connecticut.
Blake Mullen had five saves for the Monks.

PLYMOUTH STATE 2, SOUTHERN MAINE 0: Hannah Kallis and Amy Luther each scored to lead the Panthers (7-2-2, 2-2 Little East) over the Huskies (4-8, 0-4) in Gorham.
Kallis scored in the 37th minute to break a scoreless tie. Luther scored in the 68th minute off a feed from Leah Swanson.
COLBY 4, WESLEYAN 0: Merrill Read, McKayla Blanch and Meredith Keenan scored in the second half as the Mules (4-6, 2-5 NESCAC) pulled away from the Cardinals (2-8, 0-5) in Waterville.
Anna Rudinski gave Colby a 1-0 halftime lead.
ST. JOSEPH’S 2, ST. JOSEPH (CONN.) 2: Haley DaGraca scored the equalizer for the Monks (7-5-2, 4-1-2 GNAC) with 1:56 left in the second half as they tied the Blue Jays (5-6-1, 3-3-1) in West Hartford, Connecticut.
Sarah Comtois also scored for the Monks.
UNITY 4, SOUTHERN MAINE CC 3: Mariza Gionfriddo scored the go-ahead goal with 50 seconds left as the Rams (5-3-1, 5-1 YSCC) rallied to beat the Seawolves (4-6, 2-4) in South Portland.
Hannah Fields, Lilian LaRochelle and Taylor Currier all scored for SMCC.
WOMEN’S HOCKEY
BOSTON COLLEGE 2, MAINE 1: Caitrin Lonergan’s goal 38 seconds into the second period proved decisive as the Eagles (1-1-1) beat the Black Bears (1-4) in a Hockey East opener in Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts.
Maine tied the game at 1-1 on a goal by Kristin Gilmour, but gave up the go-ahead goal just 23 seconds later.
Carly Jackson had 42 saves for Maine.
