FITCHBURG, Mass. — Adela Kalilwa scored twice, including the go-ahead goal in the 86th minute, as the University of Southern Maine defeated Fitchburg State 2-1 in a nonconference women’s soccer game Wednesday.

Kalilwa gave Southern Maine (5-10) a 1-0 lead in the 24th minute with an unassisted goal. The Falcons (5-10) responded with a goal by Diobhan O’Connell from Micalea Goldenberg early in the second half.

Taylor Canastra made six saves for the Huskies.

ENDICOTT 3, UNIVERSITY OF NEW ENGLAND 2: Rachel Hanna scored on a header 2:37 into overtime to lift the Gulls (11-2-2, 6-1 Commonwealth Coast) over the Nor’easters (9-4-1, 5-1-1) at Beverly, Massachusetts.

Edie Pallozzi scored the only goal of the first half unassisted for UNE at 27:42.

Sharlotte Pernice answered for Endicott at 67:01, taking a pass from Larissa Cade and shooting to the upper right corner. Jessica Meader put the Nor’easters back on top 1:11 later from Katie Beaudoin.

Lexie Burgess tied it from Pernice with 1:08 left in regulation.

Brielle Robinson stopped five shots for UNE. Caroline Armbruster turned aside six shots for Endicott.

BOWDOIN 2, COLBY 0: Julia Patterson had a goal and an assist as the Polar Bears (9-4, 5-3 NESCAC) dominated the Mules (6-7, 1-7) at Waterville.

After a scoreless first half, Ivy Ricca scored from Patterson at 48:08. Patterson made it 2-0 from Claire Dardinski in the 83rd minute.

The Polar Bears outshot the Mules 20-6 and enjoyed an 11-3 advantage in corner kicks.

ST. JOSEPH’S 2, EMMANUEL 0: Haley DaGraca scored from Peggy Balboni at 23:50 to give the Monks (9-5-3, 6-1-3 Great Northeast Athletic) a 1-0 lead against the Saints (8-9-1, 5-4-1) at Standish.

DaGraca then set up Desiree Parent at 56:02 to make it 2-0.

MEN’S SOCCER

ENDICOTT 2, UNIVERSITY OF NEW ENGLAND 0: Dario Neukom converted a free kick at 20:46 to give the Gulls (9-5-2, 6-1 Commonwealth Coast) a 1-0 lead against the Nor’easters (3-9-4, 1-5-1) at Beverly, Massachusetts.

Evan Couchot made it 2-0 from Xavier Polanco in the 89th minute.

FIELD HOCKEY

BOWDOIN 2, HUSSON 0: Kimmy Ganong scored 14 minutes into the first half and the Polar Bears (10-4) held off the Eagles (6-6) at Bangor.

Bowdoin led 1-0 at halftime and finished its scoring in the 47th minute when Emily McColgan scored from Ganong.

COLBY 6, UMAINE-FARMINGTON 0: Hannah Hearn had a pair of second-half goals and added an assist as the Mules (7-7) handled the Beavers (8-5) at Waterville.

MEN’S BASKETBALL

MAINE: Senior Garet Beal, and juniors Aaron Calixte and Garvey Melmed were selected captains by their teammates for the upcoming season.

Beal, a 2013 Jonesport-Beals High graduate, played in 11 games last season for the Black Bears averaging 5.4 points and 1.7 rebounds. Melmed, a 2014 Old Town High graduate, appeared in 14 games last season. Calixte finished third on the team in scoring last season, averaging 10.8 points per game.

WOMEN’S BASKETBALL

MAINE: Sigi Koziar was named to the America East preseason all-conference team.

Koizar, a two-time America East first-team selection, averaged 17.7 points per game and set the school single-season record with 85 3-pointers made last season for the Black Bears.
