KENNEBUNK—Lucy A. Swett, 88, of Kennebunk, died on Saturday morning, Nov. 5, 2016 at Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough after a lengthy illness.

She was born on Dec. 17, 1927, a daughter of Marcus N. and Doris (Rutledge) Babcock in Hamilton, Massachusetts where she started school. They moved to North Berwick when she was 12-years-old where she continued attending school and graduated from North Berwick High School in 1946. 

In 1950, she married Bernard C. Bragdon and raised nine children, Wayne (Barb), Doris, Bernard “Bill” (Barb), Cathy (Terry), John (Vicki), Jane (Jeff), Lori (Lloyd), Robin (Doug), and Richard. She had lots of nieces and nephews.

She worked at several jobs until she married Charles E. Swett in November 1988 and retired at that time. She traveled several times to visit children and visited locations in Washington, Colorado, Utah, and New England. 

She enjoyed the beach, eating out, visiting the mountains in both Maine and New Hampshire, and foliage trips on wedding anniversary each November. 

A Graveside Service will be held at Pine Grove Cemetery at the family lot on Monday, Nov. 14 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Burton Howe.
