Scarborough has reported corrected vote totals after discovering that nearly 3,000 absentee ballots were accidentally excluded from their results Tuesday night.

The adjusted totals have been added to the statewide results posted at pressherald.com. The new results did not change the outcome of any individual contests, including the four-way race for two Town Council seats. William Donovan and Kathleen Foley easily defeated Marjorie DeSanctis and Annalee Rosenblatt.

About 2,700 absentee ballots were processed on Monday but not included in the final vote count from Election Day. When election officials realized the mistake Wednesday morning, Town Manager Tom Hall said he got permission from the Secretary of State to unlock the ballot boxes and recount those votes.

The corrected results were released late Wednesday evening.
