LEWISTON — Bowdoin hit a school-record 15 3-pointers as it opened its women’s basketball season Saturday afternoon with a 92-58 win over Norwich in the Graef Memorial Classic at Bates College.

Lauren Petit, a junior reserve guard, made 5 of 6 shots from long range and finished with 17 points. She made three of her 3-pointers in the second quarter, when the Polar Bears outscored the Cadets 35-16.

Taylor Choate added 14 points as Bowdoin’s bench accounted for 72 points. The Polar Bears forced 32 turnovers and finished with 19 steals, including six by freshman Maddie Hasson of South Portland.

Kayla Mercer scored 15 points for Norwich (1-2), making 5 of 7 from 3-point range.

UNIVERSITY OF NEW ENGLAND 79, REGIS 59: Alicia Brown scored 15 points to lead the Nor’easters (3-0) past the Pride (1-1) in the championship game of the Ramada Roundball Invitational in Biddeford.

Sadie Nelson contributed 14 points off the bench, making 3 of 4 shots from 3-point range. Jocelyn Chaput finished with 12 points and Olivia Shaw scored 11.

UNE led 10-9 after one quarter, then outscored the Pride 50-31 over the next two quarters.

Brittany Stone led Regis with 15 points and six rebounds.

SOUTHERN MAINE C.C. 84, VERMONT TECH 43: Jennifer Conrad scored 30 points and grabbed 13 rebounds as the Seawolves (7-0, 2-0 Yankee Small College Conference) routed the Knights (1-6, 1-4) in South Portland.

Alicia Ruth added a season-high 24 points, with six 3-pointers, and Alexis Antonacci had 10 points and nine assists.

SAGE 59, SOUTHERN MAINE 57: Macie Holmes scored 15 points, including the go-ahead free throw with 30 seconds left, as the Gators (1-1) edged the Huskies (0-2) in the Cardinal Classic at Middletown, Connecticut.

Emily Nicholson scored 14 points and Kimberly Howrigan had 12 points for USM.

MAINE MARITIME 64, COLBY 44: Alayne Felix scored 17 points and pulled down seven rebounds to lead the Mariners (2-1) over the Mules (1-1) in Castine.

The Mariners shot 8 for 13 in the first quarter and built an 18-2 advantage.

Jackie Albanese scored 15 points for Colby.

HOCKEY

BOWDOIN 2, COLBY 2: Cassidy Holzer and Mikayla McLaughlin scored third-period goals as Colby rallied for a tie against Bowdoin in a season opener in Waterville.

Bowdoin led 1-0 after one period on a goal by Katie Leininger. Brigit Bergin made it 2-0 in the second period.
