EAST LANSING, Mich. — Mike Weber ran for 111 yards and a touchdown, and No. 2 Ohio State held off Michigan State 17-16 after the upset-minded Spartans missed a 2-point conversion with 4:41 remaining Saturday.

Ohio State (10-1, 7-1 Big Ten) moves on to next weekend’s showdown with rival Michigan, but only after withstanding a spirited challenge from a Michigan State team that derailed the Buckeyes’ national title bids in two of the previous three seasons. The Spartans (3-8, 1-7) were down 17-10 when L.J. Scott scored on a 1-yard run with 4:41 to play. Michigan State went for the lead, but Tyler O’Connor’s pass on the 2-point conversion attempt was intercepted.

(1) ALABAMA 31, CHATTANOOGA 3: Jalen Hurts passed for three touchdowns and rushed for 68 yards to help Alabama (11-0) overcome a slow start and beat FCS team Chattanooga (8-3) at Tuscaloosa, Alabama.

(4) MICHIGAN 20, INDIANA 10: De’Veon Smith ran for two touchdowns in a 3:33 span late in the third quarter, finishing with a career-high 158 yards rushing to help Michigan (10-1, 7-1 Big Ten) shake off Indiana (5-6, 3-5) at Ann Arbor, Michigan.

(5) CLEMSON 35, WAKE FOREST 13: Deshaun Watson rushed for two touchdowns and threw for another score, and Clemson (10-1, 7-1 Atlantic Coast) clinched a spot in the conference title game by beating Wake Forest (6-5, 3-4) at Winston-Salem, North Carolina.

(6) WISCONSIN 49, PURDUE 20: T.J. Watt returned an interception 17 yards for a touchdown and Wisconsin (9-2, 6-2 Big Ten) scored 35 points in the final 81/2 minutes of the first half against Purdue (3-8, 1-7) at West Lafayette, Indiana.

(7) WASHINGTON 44, ARIZONA STATE 18: Jake Browning overcame a sluggish start to throw for 338 yards and two touchdowns, and Washington (10-1, 7-1 Pac-12) routed Arizona State (5-6, 2-6) at Seattle.

OREGON 30, (11) UTAH 28: Justin Herbert hit Darren Carrington for a 17-yard touchdown pass with two seconds remaining to give Oregon (4-7, 2-6 Pac-12) an upset victory over Utah (8-3, 5-3) at Salt Lake City, putting the Utes’ hopes of a league championship in jeopardy.

(12) COLORADO 38, (20) WASHINGTON STATE 24: Sefo Liufau threw for 345 yards, rushed for 108 more and scored three touchdowns as Colorado (9-2, 7-1 Pac-12) beat Washington State (8-3, 7-1) at Boulder, Colorado, in a matchup of unlikely Pac-12 division leaders.

(13) OKLAHOMA STATE 31, TEXAS CHRISTIAN 6: Mason Rudolph ran for two touchdowns and threw for another score as Oklahoma State (9-2, 7-1 Big 12) earned a Big 12 title shot by beating TCU (5-5, 3-4) at Fort Worth, Texas.

(14) WESTERN MICHIGAN 38, BUFFALO 0: Zach Terrell passed for a career-high 445 yards and four touchdowns, helping Western Michigan (11-0, 7-0 Mid-American) beat Buffalo (2-9, 1-6).

(17) FLORIDA STATE 45, SYRACUSE 14: Dalvin Cook ran for 225 yards and four touchdowns for visiting Florida State (8-3, 5-3 Atlantic Coast), which beat Syracuse (4-7, 2-5).

(19) NEBRASKA 28, MARYLAND 7: Terrell Newby ran for a career-high three touchdowns, Ryker Fyfe passed for 220 yards and a score filling in for injured starter Tommy Armstrong Jr., and Nebraska (9-2, 6-2 Big Ten) defeated Maryland (5-6, 2-6) at Lincoln, Nebraska.

(21) FLORIDA 16, (16) LOUISIANA STATE 10: Derrius Guice was stuffed on a do-or-die run from the 1 in the final seconds and the Gators (8-2, 6-2 Southeastern) held off LSU (6-4, 4-3) at Baton Rouge, Louisiana, to clinch the SEC’s East Division title.

(23) TEXAS A&M 23, TEXAS-SAN ANTONIO 10: Jake Hubenak threw for 248 yards and a touchdown, and Myles Garrett had 41/2 sacks to help Texas A&M (8-3) get back on track with a victory over the Roadrunners (5-6) at College Station, Texas.

WYOMING 34, (24) SAN DIEGO STATE 33: Josh Allen threw a 29-yard scoring pass to C.J. Johnson with 1:07 left, and Wyoming (8-3, 6-1 Mountain West) stopped a 2-point conversion attempt by San Diego State (9-2, 6-1) with no time left at Laramie, Wyoming.
