COLUMBIA, S.C. — A’ja Wilson had 14 points and Alaina Coates had 12 points and 14 rebounds as No. 3 South Carolina used its height advantage to blow past Maine 79-42 on Monday night in the Basketball Hall of Fame Women’s Challenge.

The 6-foot-5 Wilson and 6-4 Coates did about whatever they wanted against the undersized Black Bears (2-3). Wilson hit seven of her eight shots while Coates, who notched her second double-double of the season by halftime, hit six of seven shots.

The Gamecocks outrebounded Maine 42-27.

Julie Brosseau had 11 points, including three 3-pointers, to lead the Black Bears.

ST. JOSEPH’S 71, UM-FARMINGTON 43: Abbie Eastman’s 3-pointer with just over six minutes left in the second period started a 14-2 run that stretched the Monks’ lead to 34-20 at the half in Standish.

St. Joseph’s (2-1) followed with five 3-pointers in the third period to put the game out of reach.

Regan McFerran led the Monks with 14 points. Kelsi McNamara finished with 12 points, including a pair of 3-pointers in the third period, while Julia Champagne added 11 points and 10 rebounds.

Kelly Pomerleau had 12 points for the Beavers whiled Kennadi Grover added 10 points and 10 rebounds.

(4) LOUISVILLE 63, CHATTANOOGA 47: Mariya Moore scored nine points to surpass 1,000 in her career as the Cardinals (6-0) held Chattanooga to 30 percent shooting for a win in the Hall of Fame Challenge at Louisville, Kentucky.

DREXEL 62, (11) SYRACUSE 61: Meghan Creighton hit a career-high seven 3-pointers – including the winner with nine seconds left – as Drexel rallied from a five-point deficit with 1:23 left at Philadelphia.

Creighton scored a career-best 23 points, Sarah Curran added 14 and Bailey Greenberg scored 10 for the Dragons (3-1).

LIU BROOKLYN 71, MAINE 66: Iverson Fleming scored a game-high 26 points and went 12 for 12 at the free-throw line as the Blackbirds (4-1) held off the Black Bears (1-4) in the Steve Wright Classic at Boston University.

The Black Bears trailed by 17 with 9:21 left, but rallied to get within three at 69-66 on a 3-pointer from Dennis Ashley with 11 seconds remaining. LIU missed a shot with three seconds left but Fleming snatched the rebound, got fouled and sank both free throws.

Ilker Er led Maine with 13 points, while Wesley Myers and Ashley each added 11.

UMAINE-FARMINGTON 72, ST. JOSEPH’S 64: Isaac Witham scored a game-high 18 points and the Beavers (1-2) used a 19-4 run to open the second half to pull away from the Monks (1-2) in Standish.

Farmington led 31-23 at halftime and took its largest lead of the game on a 3-pointer from Riley Robinson giving the Beavers a 49-27 lead with 12:52 left. Bill Ruby added 15 points to go along with nine rebounds, three assists and three steals for Farmington.

Marc Corey scored a team-high 11 points for the Monks, while Darian Berry and Andrew Ruffen each added 10 a piece.

(12) CREIGHTON 86, MISSISSIPPI 77: Marcus Foster scored 25 points as the Bluejays (5-0) had to rally in the second half in the championship game of the Paradise Jam tournament at St. Thomas.

GEORGETOWN 65, (13) OREGON 61: Rodney Pryor had 26 points and 10 rebounds, and the Hoyas (1-2) withstood a furious second-half rally to hold on for a win in the first round of the Maui Invitational at Lahaina, Hawaii.

(16) WISCONSIN 74, TENNESSEE 62: Bronson Koenig scored 21 points while Nigel Hayes had 17 points and 10 rebounds as Wisconsin won at the Maui tournament in Hawaii.

The Badgers (3-1) built a big early lead then rallied after Tennessee made two runs to take the lead early in the second half. Hayes hit two 3-pointers as the Badgers pulled away to earn a spot in the second round.
