So Donald Trump won the election. Once we get past the “Kumbaya” moment of hoping that we can all work together and find common ground, we can never forget the racism, sexism, bullying and anti-immigrant and religious intolerance he manifested in his campaign.

He cannot erase a lifetime of running a business that went bankrupt four times, stiffing contractors and conning others, including the public, during the past months. He cannot escape his history of dodging the draft during the Vietnam War.

He cannot escape his history of sexual predation. He cannot escape having paid no taxes for years, based on creative accounting that let him take advantage of the losses of his investors.

We need to be vigilant in the next four years to hold him and those who supported him accountable:

His business must be held in a blind trust, not run by a family member, and fully transparent.

The Senate must prevent irresponsible or discriminatory proposals from becoming law. Supreme Court vacancies need “extreme vetting.”

Twenty million Americans cannot be deprived of access to insured medical care without a responsible, well-thought-out, comprehensive plan. The more uninsured patients, the greater the strain on hospital budgets and charities.

Trump must hear loud and clear from all of us when he missteps with inappropriate and hurtful language. If we are to continue working together, and get along, we all need to watch our mouths and behave! And this means you, Mr. President-elect.
