LEXINGTON, Ky. — Malik Monk scored 23 points and De’Aaron Fox added 16 to propel No. 1 Kentucky to a 101-70 rout of Cleveland State on Wednesday.

With leading scorer Isaiah Briscoe sidelined by a back injury, the freshman duo picked up the slack and did it quickly, helping Kentucky (5-0) roll to a 16-2 lead that was never threatened. They combined for 31 first-half points alone, with 19 from Monk, whose 4-of-4 start from long range and 8-of-12 shooting overall helped him match his career scoring best.

Bam Adebayo added 14 points and seven rebounds while Mychal Mulder matched a career high with 13 for Kentucky, which shot a season-best 52 percent from the field in the second of three games in the Bluegrass Showcase.

Rob Edwards’ 28 points on 12-of-21 shooting led Cleveland State (1-3), which couldn’t keep up with the Wildcats on either end and trailed 56-35 at the break.

(2) VILLANOVA 63, COLLEGE OF CHARLESTON 47: Josh Hart had 13 points and 11 rebounds, Kris Jenkins scored 11 points and Villanova (6-0)rolled past the visiting College of Charleston (3-3).

Mikal Bridges and Eric Paschall added eight points apiece for the Wildcats.

(6) DUKE 88, WILLIAM & MARY 67: Freshman Frank Jackson scored 19 points and Duke (5-1) beat William & Mary (2-2) at Durham, North Carolina.

Grayson Allen added 17 points to help the Blue Devils win their third straight since their loss to No. 5 Kansas last week. Duke shot 50 percent and outrebounded the Tribe, 39-25.

(13) OREGON 79, CONNECTICUT 69: Chris Boucher scored 21 points, Tyler Dorsey added 19 and Oregon (4-2) beat Connecticut (2-4) at Lahaina, Hawaii.

Dylan Ennis had 15 points and Jordan Bell added 12 for Oregon, which shot 54 percent and made 9 of 21 from 3-point range.

Jalen Adams led the Huskies with 27 points.

(20) BAYLOR 71, VIRGINIA COMMONWEALTH 63: Al Freeman scored 15 points and came up with three baskets during a critical second-half sequence to help Baylor (4-0)beat VCU (3-1) at Paradise Island, Bahamas.

Jonathan Motley scored a team-high 19 points before fouling out for the Bears. Also, Manu Lecomte shook off a rough shooting game to finish with 16 points, including a hanging layup while being knocked to the ground for a three-point play to go with several key free throws in the final minute.

(24) MICHIGAN STATE 73, ST. JOHN’S 62: Freshman Miles Bridges had 22 points and a season-high 15 rebounds to help Michigan State (3-2)pull away late from St. John’s (2-2) at Paradise Island, Bahamas.

Eron Harris added 14 points for the Spartans, who used a 17-4 burst midway through the second half to take control and build a 67-53 lead.

(25) SOUTH CAROLINA 61, (25) MICHIGAN 46: Sindarius Thornwell had 21 points and 10 rebounds to lead South Carolina (5-0) past Michigan (4-1) at Columbia, South Carolina.
