Does getting some extra exercise on Thanksgiving morning give you a good excuse for that extra helping at dinner?

If so, there were 1,496 runners who earned their seconds Thursday morning, finishing the Portland Thanksgiving Day 4 Miler course through the streets of Portland.

Ben Decker of Yarmouth was the top finisher in an even 20 minutes, while Jack Pierce (20:21) of New Gloucester was second and Jonny Wilson (20:33) of Flagstaff, Arizona, was third.

Erica Jesseman of Scarborough was the women’s winner in 22:14 with Holly Sullivan (23:46) of Putnam, Connecticut, second and Christina Berkow (23:52) of New York third.
