SPRINGFIELD, Mass. — The University of Maine women’s basketball team managed just four points in the first quarter but recovered to earn a 49-39 win over the University of Tennessee-Chattanooga on Sunday.

The Black Bears (3-4) got within a point, 22-21, at halftime by outscoring the Mocs 17-11 in the second quarter. They took the lead in the second half and outscored the Mocs 28-17.

Sigi Koizar scored nine of her game-high 13 points in the second half for the Black Bears. Laia Sole added 12 points and Blanca Millan added 10 for Maine.

Lakelyn Bouldin led the Mocs (3-5) with 11 points, while Jasmine Joyner added 10 points and 16 rebounds.

BOWDOIN 88, MIT 56: Abigail Kelly had 18 points and six rebounds off the bench and the Polar Bears (3-0) forced 19 turnovers as they defeated the Engineers (3-1) in Brunswick.

Taylor V’Dovec led the Engineers with 18 points.

Kate Kerrigan had 15 points and four steals for Bowdoin.

SAINT JOSEPH’S 67, SOUTHERN MAINE 63: Emily Benway scored 22 points off the bench and the Monks (3-1) held off a late rally to defeat the Huskies (1-4) in Gorham.

The Huskies went on a 22-6 run and tied the game 60-60 on a 3-pointer by Kayla Stacy with 2:04 left. Benway put the Monks up for good, 65-63, with a layup with 26 seconds left.

Regan McFerran added 14 points for St. Joseph’s.

Emily Nicholson scored 16 points and made four 3-pointers for Southern Maine. Stacy finished with 15.

COLBY 59, UMAINE-FORT KENT 41: Haley Driscoll had 21 points and eight rebounds to lead the Mules (3-1) over the Bengals (8-1) in Waterville.

Ainsley Burns added 12 points for Colby, which finished the first half on a 9-0 run to take a 25-19 lead.

Bianca Gutierrez scored 12 points on four 3-pointers for UMaine-Fort Kent.

MEN’S BASKETBALL

BABSON 78, BOWDOIN 74: Joey Flannery scored 28 points and pulled down seven rebounds to lead the Beavers (6-0) over the Polar Bears (2-2) in Babson Park, Massachusetts.

Jack Simonds scored 28 points for Bowdoin, including 15 in the first half to help the Polar Bears take a 40-39 lead.

Liam Farley finished with 15 points, including three 3-pointers.

CLARKSON 77, COLBY 59: Derek Hart recorded a 16-point, 12-rebound double-double to lead the Golden Knights (3-3) over the Mules (3-2) in the consolation game of the Hamiltion Invitational in Clinton, New York.

Patrick Stewart led the Mules with 17 points and six rebounds.

Clarkson guard Liam Ellis finished with 19 points, shooting 6-8 from the field and 4-5 from long range.

MEN’S HOCKEY

BOWDOIN 8, BECKER 3: The Polar Bears (3-2) scored six goals in the first period as they cruised past the Hawks (2-8) in the Bowdoin-Colby Face-Off Classic in Waterville.

Christian Capello scored twice in the first period, while Matt Sullivan, Max Ginsberg, Spencer Antunez and Brendan Conroy all scored once for Bowdoin.

John Dutney scored in the first for Becker and added a goal in the second. Thomas Dunleavy and Cullen Geary both scored for Bowdoin in the third.

Hawks goalie Jared Levine recorded 39 saves. Mark Schiller stopped 34 shots for the Polar Bears.

GENESEO 4, COLBY 3: Conlon Keenan scored in overtime as the Knights (6-1-1) beat the Mules in the Face-Off Classic.

Pat Condon and Stephen Collins scored in the first period as Geneseo took a 2-0 lead. Nick O’Connor scored in the second, and Geoff Sullivan and Mario Benicky in the third as Colby took a 3-2 lead.

Condon scored again with 25 seconds left to send the game to overtime.

SOUTHERN MAINE 2, TRINITY 1: Cody Braga scored a power-play goal in the second period to lift the Huskies (5-4) over the Bantams (3-2) in Hartford, Connecticut.

Tyler Mathieu scored in the first period to give Southern Maine a 1-0 lead.

Trinity tied it later in the first period on a goal by Barclay Gammill.

Alex Morin stopped 18 shots for Trinity, while Kyle Shapiro had 47 saves for the Huskies.

WOMEN’S HOCKEY

SALEM STATE 3, UNE 2: The Vikings (1-5-0) scored three goals in the second period as they defeated the Nor’easters (3-5-1) in Salem, Massachusetts.

Kerryann Goode scored twice in the second and Kylie Currier once for Salem State.

Annie Mullin scored in the first period and Tatum Gieti in the third for UNE.
