A Portland man pleaded guilty Thursday to possessing child pornography.

Glenn Strout, 53, entered the plea in U.S. District Court in Portland.

According to authorities, officers from the federal Homeland Security Department, the Maine State Police Computer Crimes Unit and the Portland Police Department were investigating sharing of child pornography over the internet in November 2015 and downloaded child pornography images from Strout’s home computer.

When officers served a search warrant on Strout, they said, he admitted to downloading child pornography and officers found numerous still and videos of child pornography on Strout’s electronic devices.

Strout will be sentenced after a pre-sentencing investigation is completed. He faces up to 20 years in prison, five years to life on supervised release and a fine of up to $250,000.
